Our Family® Butter Flavored No Stick Cooking Spray
3/4 cup Our Family® Sliced Almonds
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons Martin’s Whole Milk
1 1/2 teaspoons Our Family® Quick Rising Yeast
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon Our Family® Granulated Sugar
3 1/2 cups Our Family® All Purpose Flour plus additional for dusting
1/2 teaspoon Kosher Sea Salt
1 Matin’s Large Egg
6 tablespoons Almond Paste, crumbled
4 tablespoons Martin’s Unsalted Butter, softened
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/4 cup packed Our Family® Light Brown Sugar
1 1/2 cups Our Family® Powdered Sugar
1 teaspoon Our Family® Pure Vanilla Extract
1. Spray large bowl with cooking spray. In medium skillet, toast almonds over medium-low heat 5 minutes or until fragrant and golden brown, stirring frequently; spread on plate to cool.
2. In small saucepan, heat 3/4 cup milk over medium-low heat 2 minutes (temperature of milk should not be above 110°). Whisk in yeast and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar; let stand 5 minutes.
3. In bowl of stand mixer, whisk flour, salt and remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar. Attach dough hook to mixer; with mixer on medium-low speed, add egg, 1/4 cup almond paste, butter, 1/2 tablespoon orange zest, yeast mixture and 1/4 cup water. With mixer on medium speed, knead dough 3 minutes or until soft and dough comes together.
4. On lightly floured work surface, knead dough 1 minute or until smooth and elastic; form into a ball and place in prepared bowl. Lightly spray top of dough with cooking spray; cover with plastic wrap and let stand in warm place 1 1/2 hours or until dough has almost doubled in size.
5. Preheat oven to 375°; spray 13 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. On lightly floured work surface, gently punch down dough; roll or stretch into 12 x 8-inch rectangle. Sprinkle dough with brown sugar and 1/2 cup almonds; starting from long end, roll up dough. Cut dough crosswise into 12 (1-inch) pieces. Place pieces, cut side up, in single layer in prepared dish; lightly spray with cooking spray. Cover with plastic wrap; let stand 30 minutes.
6. Bake buns 30 minutes or until golden brown; cool 5 minutes.
7. In small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and remaining 2 tablespoons each milk and almond paste and 1/2 tablespoon orange zest. Spread powdered sugar mixture over buns; sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup almonds. Makes 12 buns.
